Surah 1 - The Opening - Al Fatihah
(This surah has been called the very essence of the Qur’an; its seven ayah or verses have a special role in daily prayer, being recited at the start of each unit of prayer; when recited, the Surah Al-Fatiha is usually followed by the word Amin, i.e., Amen; a calligraphic style presentation of the Arabic phrase, “In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful” precedes each surah in the Qur’an; English translation with a transliteration of the original Arabic. The Qur’an verses based on translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali.)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
Master of the Day of Judgment.
Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
Show us the straight way;
The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
